Belief is private
Pray, fast, marry in a house of worship, keep a moral code. That is the First Amendment. One Civil Law does not police conscience.
A civic project of equal protection
One civil law for every person in the United States.
Religious belief is free. A second legal system that assigns women a lesser share, punishes apostasy, or hides family rulings from public courts is not. The Constitution is the only code that binds us.
The rule is simple
We do not campaign against Muslims, mosques, or private worship. We campaign against parallel law — from any religion — that denies equal protection.
The law is public
Marriage, divorce, custody, inheritance, crime, and exit from a religion are civil matters. They belong in open courts that answer to the Constitution.
No lesser persons
A rule that discounts a woman’s testimony, halves a daughter’s inheritance, or treats leaving a faith as a capital offense cannot be enforced here — formally or by community pressure.
What this is not
Not a takeover story. Not a ban on a people.
U.S. Muslims are about one percent of the country. No American courthouse is governed by Sharia. Inflating that into an “invasion” is false — and it poisons the argument that actually matters: equal rights in family and criminal law.
Citizens who are Muslim have the same claim on the civil law as anyone else — including the claim to be protected from a religious tribunal that would shrink their rights.
